Birding Discovery Day – Autumn Migration on the Yorkshire Coast, England

Our leisurely paced one-day Yorkshire Autumn Migration Birding Trips are available on request and are specifically organised to make the most of bird migration on the majestic Yorkshire coast. Each unique adventure is limited to just five guests plus a guide, to ensuring you receive unrivalled attention and guidance from our experts on the ground, as well as to give you the best photographic opportunities. We will use our extensive local knowledge and contacts to maximise the best of east coast migration on the day and provide you with an insider's insight into this most incredible phenomenon.

On our Yorkshire Autumn Migration Birding trips you can see up to 40 species of bird. On the land there are thrushes such as Redwings, Fieldfares and Song Thrushes, finches including Redpolls and Siskins, chats such as European Stonechats and Whinchats, warblers such as Barred Warblers and Yellow-browed Warblers, and birds of prey including Peregrine Falcons, Merlins and Marsh Harriers. Over the sea, you can expect to see Arctic and Great Skuas, Sooty Shearwaters, Velvet Scoters, Long-tailed Ducks, Red-throated and Great Northern Divers, terns, grebes and geese. And the Yorkshire coast and wetlands are frequented by various seabirds and shorebirds, including Purple Sandpipers, Whooper Swans, Pink-footed and White-fronted Geese, a variety of ducks and much more.

Day 1

We’ll start our day at 08.00, stop for lunch around 12.30-13.15 and aim to finish around 16.00.

The day will be spent travelling between a number of migration hotspots which could include: Flamborough Head or Filey Brigg. Transport is not included so we’ll aim to keep our activity close to our meeting point on the day, but this depends on client requests, weather conditions and where the birds are.

Full joining instructions will be given when you book.

Wildlife species you may see:

On the land – Thrushes such as Redwing, Fieldfare, Song Thrush, finches such as Redpolls and Siskins, chats such as European Stonechat and Whinchat, warblers such as Barred Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler and birds of prey such as Peregrine Falcon, Merlin, Marsh Harrier.

Yorkshire Coast Nature cannot guarantee specific wildlife sightings as nature is unpredictable. Changes to booking dates can only be made at least 28 days in advance of your booking. This allows us an opportunity to fill your place. Cancellations and amendments within 28 days of your booked tour date are non-refundable.
