Winter Birding Tour in Norfolk
There’s nowhere better to be in February than on the North Norfolk coast so why not come and join us for some exciting winter birdwatching in Norfolk. This beautiful stretch of unspoiled coastline holds year-round fascination for birdwatchers and we will enjoy lots of great encounters with resident birds along with wintering wildfowl, waders and raptors. During our Birdwatching in Norfolk tour, we hope to see such charismatic species as Avocet, Bittern, Bearded Tit, Marsh Harriers, Barn Owl and Dartford Warbler, as well as Common Crane, Snow Bunting and Shore Lark and any other special birds that may be in the area. Expect to see around 120 species during our stay in this magical part of the world.
This is one of our favourite parts of Britain and we really enjoy birdwatching in Norfolk, in the part of Britain where birdwatching in Britain really began. There's nothing quite like an early morning walk along the seawall watching the huge flocks of geese lift off the marshes against the sunrise, probably the iconic image of winter birdwatching in Norfolk. We'll be visiting the flagship reserves of RSPB Titchwell Marsh, possibly the best reserve in the UK, as well as the Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves at Cley Marshes and Holme Dunes, and we'll aim to visit the pine woods and wide open sandy beaches at Holkham too. You can expect a real variety on our Winter Birding in Norfolk Tour. All that wonderful fresh air and exciting birding can give you an appetite and we've got that covered too! We know the very best places to enjoy a delicious warming lunch, and relaxed evening meals majoring on local produce while we chat about the day's great bird sightings are always a feature of our birdwatching tours in Norfolk.
Top five highlights:
- The magical sight and sound of thousands of geese lifting into the air at dawn
- Masses of waders and wildfowl on the lagoons at RSPB Titchwell
- An uplifting walk along the endless pristine beach at Holkham
- A close encounter with a ghostly Barn Owl floating over the swaying reedbeds at dusk
- Delicious, fresh local produce for our lunches and evening meals - seafood highly recommended!
