Wildebeest Migration Experience in Serengeti, Tanzania
This moderately-paced 7-Day Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Tour is available on request and has been designed specifically to maximise your chances of witnessing the awe-inspiring Great Wildebeest Migration.
We have designed the itinerary of this Serengeti Wildebeest Migration trip to include both Lobo – the area north of the central Serengeti National Park – and Wagakuria – located in the remote northern part of the park – where the majority of the Great Wildebeest Migration usually takes place from August to October.
This is when the migrating animals head north out of the central Serengeti, splitting into two routes. The main group heads into the western corridor, crossing the Grumeti River in spectacular stampedes, hopefully evading the crocodiles waiting to snatch them as they surge across the river. The wildebeest continue to move steadily across the Grumeti region, making another perilous river crossing over the Mara to reach the lush grazing in Kenya's Masai Mara.
To save on unnecessary travel time and increase your game viewing experience, you will take flight between Serengeti National Park and Arusha town.
This will give you time on your Serengeti Wildebeest Migration adventure to visit the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcano, located within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It serves as a habitat for a significant number of species, including the critically endangered Black Rhinoceros, as well as large herds of Zebras, Thomson and Grant Gazelles, Hippopotamus, Black-backed Jackals, Hyenas, Serval Cats and as many as 400 different species of bird, including huge flocks of Flamingos.
