Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Tour

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

This moderately paced 4-day Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Tour is available on request and will take you trekking in Volcanoes National Park, which is a well known location for these charismatic primates.

Your tour begins in Kigali and you drive into the rural area and through the foothills to the home of endangered Mountain Gorilla. Your destination is the city of Musanze, which has a strategic position on the edge of the Virunga Massif where you find Volcanoes National Park. This park is a habitat for a variety of primate species and the top destination for  Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Tours.

On this trekking tour you will get close to the gorillas and have an hour's interaction with them, briefly becoming a part of a family group as the females watch over their young playing amongst the trees and the giant silverback asserts his authority over his domain.

This Rwanda Mountain Gorilla tour is often referred to as a once in a lifetime experience. There can be few wildlife encounters to match meeting these large primates in their natural habitat. And aside from this most memorable experience, the trek to find Rwanda Mountain Gorillas also exposes you to other interesting primates and a number of fascinating bird species as well as many other East African animals and plants.

Your guide has all the knowledge and experience necessary and will be delighted to show you around a typical Rwandan village. You will be driven around in a comfortable safari vehicle and stay in an atmospheric lodge on the outskirts of the National Park.

As part of the cultural and historical experience you will enjoy on this tour, you will visit the moving memorial to the Kigali genocide. This is a lasting reminder of events in 1994 when many thousands of Tutsi tribal people were massacred. This memorial ground stands as their monument and a symbol of the hope that lasting peace can be safeguarded.

Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Tour Highlights:

  • Primate trekking at Volcanoes National Park

  • A visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial

  1. Friendly, safe, reliable and informative!
    LB17 Oct 2016

Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris exceeded our expectations. We used their services to see the silverback gorillas and golden monkeys in Virunga, as well as two separate day trips to Akagera. Before we arrived in Kigali, Reginal arranged silverback gorilla permits for us, greeted us at our hotel, and introduced us to the drivers. We had a terrific experience because the drivers were courteous and safety-conscious, the vehicles were comfy and well-maintained, and we had a great time. Thank you for your excellent service, Reginal.
  2. Amazing tour operator. I will be back!
