Pantanal Photography Tour, Brazil - 8 Days

Pantanal Photography Tour, Brazil

Wildlife Photography Tour in Pantanal, Brazil

This is an 8-day Pantanal Photography Tour in the Mato Grosso state in southern Brazil.  During this leisurely paced wildlife photo tour throughout the Pantanal, expect to see over 400 wildlife species with the possibility to photograph around 100 species.

The Brazilian Pantanal is the world's largest tropical wetland and an enormous piece of the area flooded during the wet season (November through March), permitting the environment to support a high variety of biodiversity.

The Pantanal ecosystem is also thought to be home to 1000 species of birds, 300 species of mammals, and 480 species of reptiles. This high biodiversity makes Pantanal a first-class destination for a Pantanal photography tour, especially for birds and big mammals.

Our photo tour throughout Pantanal focuses on providing guests with the best conditions for wildlife photography by taking them to the best-known spots. Also, our wildlife and photography tour provides you with the best and most highly experienced tour guides in the area.

This Pantanal photography adventure begins near the town of Poconé. The first part of this tour will be looking for Pantanal icons like Yacaré Caimans, Greater Rhea and Red-legged Seriema. We will spend two nights at the comfortable Piuval Lodge looking for specialities like Hyacinth Macaw and Giant Anteater.

Then, we will move to Pantanal Norte Lodge for two nights where the main targets are Brazilian Tapir, Marsh Deer, Giant Anteater, Red-brocket Deer among others.  After that, we move to the Aymara Lodge where we will spend additional nights looking for Jaguar, Giant River Otter, Toco Toucan, Agami Heron, Helmeted Manakin, Zigzag Heron and more.

To finish the Pantanal photo tour, we head to Chapada dos Guimarães where we'll spend two more nights.

Chapada dos Guimarães is a unique destination for wildlife and especially for bird photography. Interesting birds to photograph in the area also include Scarlet-headed Blackbird, Maguari Stork, White-headed Marsh-Tyrant, Great Potoo, Crimson-crested Woodpecker, Great Horned Owl and many others. Here we will also have more chances to photograph Jaguars and Giant River Otters.

From Chapada dos Guimarães we will drive back to Cuibá, for the flight back to Sao Paolo.

Pantanal Photography Tour highlights include:

  • Pantanal is the largest wetland in the world.
  • It is the most reliable place to see Jaguars, Anacondas, and Giant Anteaters.
  • The bird and mammals diversity is astonishing: more than 1000 species of birds and more than 300 species of mammals.
