Wildlife Photography Tour in the Pantanal, Brazil
This is an 8-day Pantanal photography tour in the Mato Grosso state of southern Brazil. During this leisurely paced wildlife photo tour through the Pantanal wetlands, expect to see over 400 wildlife species with a good chance of getting good photographs of at least a quarter of them.
The Brazilian Pantanal is the world's largest tropical wetland and covers an enormous area that is flooded during the wet season of November through to March. This creates an environment that supports a high degree of biodiversity.
The Pantanal ecosystem is also thought to be home to around 1,000 species of birds, 300 mammals, and 480 reptiles. This makes for a first-class destination for a Pantanal photography tour, especially for shots of birds and big mammals.
Our photo tour through the Pantanal focuses on providing guests with the best conditions for wildlife photography. Our wildlife and photography tour will take you to the best spots and provide you with the most highly experienced tour guides in southern Brazil, who understand what a photographer needs.
This Pantanal photography adventure begins near the town of Poconé. The first part of the tour will be looking for Pantanal icons such as Yacaré Caimans, Greater Rhea and Red-legged Seriema. We will spend two nights at the comfortable Piuval Lodge where you can see specialities such as Hyacinth Macaws and Giant Anteaters.
Then, we will move to Pantanal Norte Lodge for two nights where the main targets will be Brazilian Tapir, Marsh Deer, Giant Anteater and Red-brocket Deer among others. After that, we will move to the Aymara Lodge where we will spend additional nights looking for Jaguar, Giant River Otter, Toco Toucan, Agami Heron, Helmeted Manakin, Zigzag Heron and more.
To finish the Pantanal photo tour, we will head to Chapada dos Guimarães where we'll spend two more nights. Chapada dos Guimarães is a unique destination for wildlife and especially for bird photography.
