Birding Day in Northern Doñana National Park, Andalucia, Spain
A 1-day Northern Doñana Birdwatching Trip that takes you through the marshland to be found in the northern part of the National Park. This is one of the best places to watch birds in Doñana and the trip runs daily. To get there we drive past farms, paddy fields and marshlands in the delta of the River Guadalquivir so the number of species we can see in just one day is considerable.
The day's birdwatching in northern Doñana also includes a visit to the Jose Antonio Valverde Visitor Centre. This involved a quite lengthy drive along unmade roads to get there, but the journey is well worth it as the birding along the way is exceptional, especially in the wet season.
"Birding with Wild Doñana (Manu and Maria) is just like going birding with good friends who just happen to know more about birds than you do! We can't give higher praise than that - highly recommended! - Will and Helen Willcox
After the Visitor Centre we go to the “Dehesa de Abajo”, an area near rice fields where several species of waterfowl can be spotted, including Marbled and White-headed Ducks.
The wetlands and woodlands of Doñana are a paradise for birders and in our Northern Doñana birdwatching trip we have designed the best guided tour possible of the National Park. Our aim is to get the most out of the area, enable a focus on special species and rack up a considerable number of species for a day's list.
Northern Doñana Birdwatching Trip highlights include:
- A day in one of Europe's best wetland areas
- Resident Red-knobbed Coot, Stone Curlew, Spanish Sparrow, Lesser Short-toed Lark, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse
- Views of Marbled and White-headed Ducks
