Wildlife Photography Break focusing on Iberian Lynx

This 5-day Iberian Lynx Photography Tour in Spain is a leisurely paced trip available on request to see one of the most threatened feline species in the world. Photo Logistics owns and manages four hides in a private estate. The expedition also includes a trip to the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park in the Sierra Morena mountain range, which has the highest Iberian Lynx population in Spain. We keep a daily record of Lynx activity using camera traps, so updated information is on hand every day.

The trip begins with a series of day or half-day hide sessions led by our local biologist to observe the estate's population of up to six Lynx during mating season. There are also hides for observing and photographing Red Deer and foxes, as well as another for Golden Eagles, Spanish Imperial Eagles, Black Vultures and Griffon Vultures. All of our hides are double-seated and there is a small toilet to make longer sessions a more comfortable experience!

The photo safaris through Sierra Morena gives the opportunity to try a different kind of Iberian Lynx photography. There is a healthy population of Iberian Lynx in the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and our experienced local guides can take you to the most reliable areas for photographing this elusive mammal. There will also be the opportunity to observe the Iberian Ibex and Fallow Deer.

For this Iberian Lynx photography trip we use local accommodation featuring single and double rooms in different houses in the same resort. This resort is famed for its tasty regional cooking, with packed lunches provided for day trips.

Iberian Lynx Photography Tour in Spain highlights include:

  • An opportunity to photograph Iberian Lynx from our exclusive hides on a private estate
  • Taking a safari to search for Iberian Lynx through the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park in the Sierra Morena mountains
  • Enjoying the region's varied biosphere of mammals and bird life, including Iberian Ibex, Golden Eagles, Red and Fallow Deer and other birds and raptors
  • Expert local guides taking you to the best spots for finding the Iberian Lynx and offering photography tips and advice at all levels
  • Comfortable local accommodation and traditional regional cuisine throughout the tour

Please note: In Spain, there are strict regulations covering the operation of Iberian Lynx hides and feeding the felines and using food to attract them to a hide is against the law. Photo Logistics always adheres to these regulations and observes best conservation practices.

If you have more time available on your Spanish wildlife holiday maybe consider extending your trip to include our Great Bustards and Raptors Birding Tour, Spain.

Day 2
Day 1 - Lynx Hide Photography

Meeting our guide before the sunrise (the specific time has to be set according with the date of your visit) and transfer by car to the private estate. You will be leaded to a Lynx hide for spending the day. We have programmed this whole day session for the first day as we know it could be demanding.

After this session you will be driven back to your accommodation.

Day 3
Day 2 - Lynx & Golden Eagle Hide Photography

Meeting our guide before the sunrise. This day we will take a morning Lynx hide session. You will be requested to use the hide that is working better by the days you will be there, so it could be the same facility you were the first day or a different one. Trusting our guide knowledge is essential here.

After the morning session you will be collected in the hide and guided to the Golden Eagle hide. Here you will spend the afternoon before getting back to the accommodation.

Day 4
Day 3 - Photo Safari | Red Deer Hide

Meeting our guide before the sunrise, or a little later, if required. Safari in the morning. Our photo safaris are held closer to the accommodation. So a morning photo safari is the perfect way for stretching your legs and try a different type of photography. Our guide will be happy to hear your main target: of course Lynx, but also Iberian Ibex, Red Deer or Fallow Deer are some of our specialties.

As the afternoon comes you will be driven to a back light Red Deer hide. Trust us, the photography of Red Deer silhouettes against the reddish dusk sky is a simple but delightful experience for the wildlife photographer. But, if you are not for back light we can manage your Red Deer photography in the morning, with the Sun at your back and the photo safari in the afternoon. And, if you are not a Red Deer person, we have an amazing Forest Bird hide with Rock Bunting, Nuthatch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Crested Tit, etc.

Day 5
Day 4 - Scavenger's Hide Session

Meeting our guide before the sunrise. In the same estate we have a special hide for Spanish Imperial Eagle, Black Vulture and Griffon Vulture. Also Fox is a regular visitor. After the scavengers hide session you will be guided to an afternoon Lynx hide session. Again, trust our guide, and get the hide she know is better working.

We take a daily record of the Lynx activity by camera traps, so we have updated information everyday.

Day 6
Day 5 - Programme Repeat Option

This is the spare day, we can repeat the program you choose or we can even try a combination of the hides you have been in. Our safari is also available for you, if it has been too much hide session.

After your day you will be back at your accommodation for enjoying the last dinner before your departure.
