Birding Discovery Day - Forests and Rivers of North Yorkshire, England

Join us on a full-day Birding Discovery Day focused on Yorkshire’s extensive forests and beautiful rivers.

"Richard Baines is everything you could want in a wildlife guide: knowledgeable, passionate, considerate and super-helpful. His deep understanding of ecology added greatly to our understanding of the birds, flowers and insects we were seeing. He made every effort to insure that we all saw everything and increased our own knowledge." - Susan Kaplow.

The North York Moors National Park has one of the few large areas of forests left in England. Habitat networks link the landscape over 30 miles between Scarborough in the east and Sutton Bank to the west. In essence, it’s fantastic for birdlife!

You’re likely to see: Northern Goshawk, European Honey Buzzard, Tawny Owl, Common Crossbill, Siskin, Turtle Dove, Tree Pipit, Willow Warbler, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Common Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher, Dipper, Kingfisher and Grey Wagtail.

One thing is for sure, you’ll be in the thick of the action! We have many contacts and expert guides who know where to go so you’ll get the best possible experience.

Our small group sizes (5 guests plus guide) mean you’ll have ample opportunity to learn about bird species, take photographs and travel at a more leisurely pace. We welcome anyone from beginners to the more experienced, which when in a small group, feels like you’re part of a team.

These are incredible days not to be missed!

YCN will make a 10% donation to RSPB Raptor Investigations with each booking. Together we can make a real difference for wildlife!

This was a superb few hours spent in a forest on the North Yorks moors where the nightjars appeared right on cue. Richard's knowledge shone through as did his ability to make everyone feel comfortable whether new to the hobby or an old hand. Highly recommended.
