Fishing Mongolia and Conservation Tour

An 11-day fishing and conservation tour professional and experienced team in silent and remote areas. Visiting and fishing in Great Chinggis Khan’s birthplace where the crystal clear rivers host various fish species. Catch and release the iconic Taimen, the largest fish in Mongolia which is a great opportunity to participate in the adventure monster fishing. Visit and fishing in the junction of largest two rivers (Onon and Balj). A truly unique holiday with nomads in wilderness visit to local Buryat family, an authentic ethnic group of Mongolia, while tasting local cuisine.  During this tour you will support and help to raise a fund for Mongolian national fish field guide through your booking of the trip. This is the sustainable and conservation manner of the service.

Day 1
Day 1 - Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. The crew will pick you up at the airport. After lunch, we will visit the natural history museum to see some fish exhibition of Mongolia. Welcome dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 2
Day 2 - Gun Galuut Nature Reserve (Kherlen River)

Stay in the ‘Steppe Nomads’ tourist camp and do the angling in the slow-running and muddy Kherlen River. Potential species include Barbot, East-Asian Catfish, and Amur Grayling. Overnight in tourist camp near Kherlen River.

Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Road: Total coverage 130 km paved road (2-3 hours’ drive).

Day 3
Days 3 to 4. Binder Sum/County (Onon River)

Today we will cover very long drive to get the wonderful fishing site which is the Onon River, one of the largest freshwater rivers in Mongolia. Our target species: Amur Grayling, Lenok, and large Perches. Overnight in a tourist camp near the river. Night fishing is also available here.

Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Road: Total coverage 114 km paved and 172 km dust road (6-7 hours’ drive).

Day 4
Days 5 to 6 - Dadal Sum (Balj River)

After early breakfast, we will leave the tourist camp and drive along Onon River whilst fishing on a few spots. This site is the birthplace of Great Chinggis Khan of Mongolian Empire in the 13th century. It is the most remote area near the Russian border with breathtaking natural sceneries. There is a great opportunity to visit many different historical sites depending on your request. Overnight in a tourist camp near Balj River.

Road: Total coverage 130 km dust road (5-6 hours’ drive).

Day 5
Days 7 to 8 - Junction of Onon and Balj Rivers

We will have two full days fishing at the junction of Onon and Balj rivers. This area provides us with Taimen, Lenok, Pike, Amur Grayling, and others. We will try to catch the largest Taimen and release it into the wild. Overnight camping in the river valley under millions of stars. We will visit a local Buryat family and taste traditional food and national drinks.

Road: Total coverage 200 km dust road (6-7 hours’ drive).

Day 6
Day 9 - Chinggis Town (Kherlen River)

Early morning we will leave the fishing site for the Chinggis town. Do fishing in the Kherlen river for Burbot and other small fishes. Overnight in a local hotel.

Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Road: Total coverage 300 km dust road (6-7 hours’ drive).

Day 7
Day 10 - Ulaanbaatar

Early morning we will drive to Ulaanbaatar. Check in a hotel. Shopping and city tour. In the evening you will have a farewell dinner with the crew. Overnight in the hotel.

Food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Road: Total coverage 300 km paved road (6-7 hours’ drive).

Day 8
DAY 11 - Departure

We will bring you to the airport anytime in accordance with your flight.
