Norwegian Wildlife Safari Particularly Catering for Women
This 7-day Elk Safari in Norway is designed to be women-only for those who would prefer not to join a mixed-sex camp. It is leisurely paced trip, available on request, on which you will enjoy one of Europe's last wilderness areas, Fulufjellet National Park. This tour has a feeling of being in a true wilderness - the kind of real isolation that it is hard to find in Europe these days.
European Elk, also known as Moose, are common in the National Park and it is also home to Norway's four largest predators - Brown Bears, Gray Wolves, Eurasian Lynx, and Wolverines. The Park plays an important role in the increase of these animals in Norway.
As for the birdlife, on this Elk Safari in Norway you will enjoy sightings of common species such as Bramblings, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Tree Pipits and Redstarts as well as Golden Eagles, Hawk Owls and Capercaillie, which are regularly seen. Serbian Jays are also found here and they are not normally seen outside their breeding territory so they are great to see.
The Park has a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and insects such as butterflies and dragonflies that you can spend some time seeking out.
Our home for the week will be in tepee-style tents. This is where this particular Elk Safari in Norway will suit women who prefer not to share a mixed tent as we will keep it as a women-only group.
Even though we will be camping it doesn't mean that we will be in basic accommodation. The large tent is split into three rooms - two bedrooms with comfortable camping beds and a large living area. An outside sheltered kitchen with a wood-burning stove is where all of your locally sourced meals for the tour will be cooked. On this Norwegian women-only wildlife safari, you will also have home comforts such as a shower with warm water, solar panel chargers for your mobile phone and camera and chairs to relax in after a day of exploring.
The focus of this Elk Safari in Norway is on hiking to experience the natural world and observe its wild animals and their behaviour, but you will also learn about Norwegian folklore, the Vikings and the Sami people. Our aim is to give you a fully rounded experience of Norway.
You can also add in extra experiences to this Elk Safari in Norway, such as going horse riding, white water rafting and visiting a local Norwegian town.
Elk Safari in Norway highlights include:
- A chance to see some of Norway's most impressive mammals
- A true wilderness experience but with modern comforts and in the company of a women-only group
- Golden Eagles, Capercaillie, Hawk Owls and Serbian Jays
