This tour ranges from 8 up to 12 days where you will experience the heritage and history of Guatemala, a country full of magic and culture, from being the center of the Mayan civilization to the center of the Spanish reign during the colonial times.
At 04:00 p.m., you have to be at TAG Counter (at the International Airport La Aurora) to board the flight to Flores, Petén. On arrival, our representative will transfer you to Isla de Flores Hotel for overnight accommodations.
Breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The local guide will pick you up at your hotel for your tour to the archaeological site of Yaxhá. The city is contemporary to Tikal; it is located on the northeastern side of Lake Yaxhá. In the afternoon you will continue to Tikal National Park for birding and accommodations inside the park.
Breakfast. Continue exploring the amazing Mayan ruins of Tikal to discover more of the rainforest looking for new bird species. In the afternoon transfer to the “Mundo Maya” airport to take the inland flight back to Guatemala City. Transfer to Antigua Guatemala, overnight at Antigua.
Breakfast. Early morning birding at El Pilar Farm, a private farm with the best display of hummingbird feeders, will have a picnic breakfast there. Afterward will head back to Antigua. The guests will take a half day walking tour of Antigua. (3-4hr), the tour starts in the main square, visiting the Palace, the Cathedral, La Merced Church and San Francisco Church. Then we will transfer to ‘Los Tarrales Natural Reserve’, located on the southern slope of Atlitlán Volcano. Overnight at the Tarrales Eco-Lodge.
Breakfast. Today we will have the opportunity to take a tour to observe the traditional coffee production process. During the tour in Los Tarrales, the experts will guide you through the gourmet coffee cycle. We will discover how the unique characteristics of weather and terrain combine to create the perfect conditions to grow the best coffee beans. Overnight in Panajachel.
Breakfast. Cultural Tour of San Juan La Laguna. We will have contact with the cultural and artistic traditions for which the Tz’utujil culture stands out. We will visit different communities of San Juan La Laguna where you will enjoy and observe the daily life of theTz’utujil people. Overnight in Panajachel.
Breakfast. Visit the Nature Reserve ‘El Mariposario’, it is a small place but with very attractive Characteristics with trails of abundant cloud forest vegetation; you will also be able to look at some animals such as monkeys, raccoons, and butterflies. After the visit, we will continue to Cerro of Tecpán, located in the Mountain Forest biome in the central highlands of Guatemala, at an altitude of 2500m. On arrival, we will begin to explore the trails of the site being the Pink-headed Warbler the key species to observe.
