Birdwatching in Menorca
A 1-day Birds of Menorca Trip that will, at a leisurely pace, introduce you to the best the island has to offer in habitats and the birds that live in, or pass through, them. On this tour, which is available on request, we will travel to four or five different areas of the island. There you will discover the most representative birds of Menorca in their own ecosystems - wetlands, forests, rocky crags, farm lands and sea cliffs. A picnic with local products will be included.
The exact route to see the birds of Menorca will depend on the time of year you book. The expert knowledge of our local guides will identify the best place to be on the island for the season so you don't miss a second of the action on your day trip. All year round you can enjoy great birds such as Ferruginous Duck, Egyptian Vulture, Booted Eagle, Purple Gallinule, Scops Owl, Tekla Lark, Spotless Starling and Blue Rock Thrush to name but a representative few of the delights on offer.
The resident birds of Menorca are augmented in winter by, for example, Greater Flamingo, Great Snipe, Marsh Harrier, Wryneck and Alpine Accentor. And in summer you can hope to enjoy Cory's and Balearic Shearwaters, Night Heron, Short-toed Lark, Audouin's Gull, Turtle Dove and the Balearica Spotted Flycatcher, along with many others.
Birds of Menorca Trip highlights include:
- An introduction to five different ecosystems and the birds that inhabit them
- Special focus on birds during the spring and autumn migrations
- Dozens of Egyptian Vultures that roost on the island year round
