Spring Birdwatching in Coastal Yorkshire, England
On this full-day Birding Coastal Yorkshire Discovery Day, you as a client on one of our will witness the wide array of birdlife that the east coast of Yorkshire has to offer. This is a relaxed-paced Yorkshire birdwatching trip available on request where you can expect to see around 40 species of bird including rarer migrants and vagrants. We will visit hotspots including Flamborough Head, Bempton Cliffs, Filey Brigg, and Scarborough to look for both birds on migration and those staying to breed.
Spring is when huge numbers of long-distance migrants flood back to northern Europe and the Arctic from Africa and southern Europe. You can expect everything from various warblers and songbirds to raptors, wildfowl, hirundines, and many thousands of seabirds (including Puffins, Gannets, Guillemots, Razorbills and more), and with a little luck, a scarcity or two - on recent spring discovery days we've bumped into Red-backed Shrike, Rosy Starling, and other rarer wanderers!
On this Birding Coastal Yorkshire Discovery Day, we will visit the most productive habitats, which may be a combination of the above locations. With our expert guides, you can be sure that you’ll learn a lot as part of a small group in the thick of the action!
Please note that transport is not provided on this day trip but all sites will be in close proximity to the meeting point which will be arranged. So spring on the spectacular coast of East and North Yorkshire is a great time for many species, from migrant songbirds and shorebirds to thousands of nesting seabirds!
