Bogotá Savannah and llanos Foothills Birdwatching Tour

This 14-day Birding Bogotá Tour is a moderately-paced trip available on request where you can expect to see over 450 species of bird, including 20 endemics and other Colombian wildlife species. This Bogotá birdwatching trip will take you to some of the best places for birding in the areas surrounding Bogotá and includes many different ecosystems, from the moorlands at an altitude of 4000 meters, to the plains at just 300 meters above sea level.

You might think that in a metropolis like Bogotá, bird watching is almost impossible, however in Colombia, the country with the highest number of bird species in the world, this is not the case.

During this Birding Bogotá adventure, you will visit the territory where the little-known Pointy Winged Parakeet and many more birds from the Little explored Colombian prairie foothills.  The area of the Prairie foothills is one of the least explored places in Colombia and every day there is a very strong possibility of being surprised by the magnificent species to be found there.

In the plains, the culture, the Savannah and life reveal themselves all over the place.  You will love staying in the Mururito lodge and living among the wildlife.  The union of Andean forests and these savannahs creates an incredible mixture of birdlife that includes aspects from the lowlands as well as the medium and highlands, resulting in a magnificent species diversity and making the prairie foothills a fascinating place for birding.

Birding Bogota Tour Highlights includes:

  • Excellent Accommodations at Local High-Quality Lodging
  • We will explore places close to the city with beautiful lodges, first-class service, and some hundreds of beautiful birds and for sure, many hummingbirds!
  • We will observe the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the mountains
  • Get in touch with the rich cultural expressions of the plain communities and let yourself be delight by the music, dance, and gastronomy.

We always try to hire services from the communities in all the places we visit when they are available; We want the entire value chain to benefit and for everyone to benefit from tourism and see in it, an economic alternative that leads to the conservation of nature. In this way, we also hire our professional guides, local guides, community restaurants, rural accommodation, rural transport, logistics services from community organizations or local NGOs, etc. We also have some programs such as Manakin Birding Club, where we support with equipment such as binoculars, laptops, books, etc., ecological groups of children and young people to continue with their education and conservation activities in their regions, an initiative that has been very successful in recent years and with which dozens of binoculars have been delivered to children in many parts of the country.
