The lowland dipterocarp forest of Danum Valley is home to several species of birds that are endemic to Borneo. There are over 320 species of birds have been recorded at Danum Valley, including the Argus pheasant, Bulwer's pheasant, seven species of pitta (including the rare giant pitta), the Bornean Bristlehead, Bornean Ground-Cuckoo, Bornean Wren-Babbler, Black-Throated Wren-Babbler and Dusky Munia, just to name a few.
