Why book with Bellbird Birding Tours?

Bellbird Birding Tours has 20 years experience in providing top-quality small-group birding trips throughout Australia and beyond. We offer a wide selection of scheduled tours with regular departures and fully customisable privately guided tours of any duration. We specialise in difficult-to-find bird species and off-the-beaten track locations while not omitting the popular birding areas. Our tours are led by our passionate and experienced professional bird guides and with the help of local experts.

What to bring?

On a custom tour you're allowed to bring whatever you want! Unlike our public tours, on your custom tour there's no need to travel light if you don't want to. Please don't forget your binoculars, camera, mobile phone, chargers, power adaptors if youre an international guest, insect repellent, sunscreen, personal medications, sun hat, water bottle, hand sanitizer. Sturdy footwear recommended. We'll have a high quality spotting scope on board but please feel free to bring your own, or your super-telephoto lenses with tripod, or anything else you think you might need.

Best time of year?

The northern one-third of Australia is subject to a tropical monsoon season generally between Nov-Apr. The months of June-Sept are generally dry and that's when most birders visit those areas. In the south, Sep-Nov is spring and traditionally seen as the best birding season, but many of our birds aren't as season-specific in their breeding needs as their northern hemisphere counterparts, so they can breed any time of year after good rainfall. This is especially true for the outback birds. Nov-Mar can be warm to hot in the interior and Apr-Jun is a good second choice for birding all the non-tropical areas.
