Mountain Gorilla
The Mountain Gorillas are one of the key wildlife tourism attractions in Rwanda, as most visitors to the country will head straight to Volcanoes National Park to take a trek to see the gorillas. Rwanda has more than 10 families of habituated Mountain Gorillas that you can visit. Advanced booking is required as the daily slots available are limited.
Chimpanzee
Chimpanzees are one of the primates you can see on a trip to Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda. Just as with Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzee treks are highly sought-after trips in Rwanda. These animals are, however, more mobile compared to the gorillas so you need a specialist guide to ensure good sightings. They live in a community led by an alpha male that takes care of the group.
Great Blue Tulaco
The Great Blue Turaco is one of the famous birds listed at Nyungwe Forest. It is a bird of the family Musophagidae and the largest of all the species of turaco. It has a predominantly grey-blue plumage with an upright blue-black crest around 10cm high. The males and females have similar plumage. This iconic bird can easily be encountered along the birding trails on a successful birding day at Nyungwe.
Golden Monkey
The Golden Monkey is one of the famous primates to encounter on a specialist trek. It belongs to a species of Old World monkey found in Virunga National Park's massive areas as well as in Mgahinga National Park, which is on the other side of the same mountain, but in Uganda. These monkeys are very friendly but shy, and can often be seen feeding on bamboo shoots.
The Masai Giraffe
The Masai Giraffes can be found on a game drive in Akagera National Park, where their huge body mass and height make them easy to spot.
African Bush Elephant
African Bush Elephants, being the largest land mammal, are animals you are bound to find on a game drive to Akagera National Park. They are savannah dwellers so you can only find them in areas such as this. A number of elephants live in the Park so being able to watch their family groups foraging and breaking tree branches with their massive tasks and trunks is easily done.
Grey Crowned Crane
Grey Crowned Cranes can be found in mixed wetland/grassland habitats in eastern and southern Africa. In Rwanda they are mostly located in Akagera National Park and Umusambi wetland. The latter is dedicated to the conservation of this beautiful bird. They forage for grass seeds, small toads, insects, and other invertebrates in their damp environment.
African Fish Eagle
The African Fish Eagle is one of the rare species of birds to be found in Rwanda. They are often sighted around lakes and rivers, as this is their preferred feeding habitat. African Fish Eagles are usually seen in pairs both in and outside of the breeding season, and can be observed sharing kills.

Rwanda is a country that is very rich in culture. At Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris we blend our safari offering with a cultural one to give our clients a taste and insight into true Rwandan life in the local community.

During our exploration of Rwanda’s nature you can also experience great moments in the community, enjoy traditional dance, visit homesteads and learn about the people’s way of life and the social and economic factors that affect them.  In this way we support the livelihood of the local community around the national parks, and the key roles they play in the conservation of the wildlife that surrounds them. It helps them to realize the impact of tourism and how they can make conservation fit in with their day-to-day life. We are striving to unite a common global goal of conservation and cultural heritage protection.

This also helps you make the most out of your visit, too. Your enjoyment of East Africa’s stunning natural landscapes and its cultural sights contributes to the development of your host community. Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris will give you a taster of the Rwandan culture and a chance to meet local people and share your valuable time and experience with them.

Our visit of Rwanda and Brunei was coordinated by this business. The tour was fantastic! (Guide, transportation, restaurant, time management, and so on.) If I visit Rwanda, Uganda, Brunei, or any other African country near these countries, I will undoubtedly contact this company to arrange a tour. Thank you so much for doing such a fantastic job! Reginal, my tour operator representative, contacted me shortly after I requested a quote for the tour, and the subsequent communication was wonderful and very quick. He squeezed me in on short notice and took me up from the hotel the next morning with Isaac, the tour leader. The guide was fantastic; he was witty, drove well, and had extensive knowledge of the park and its animals. My time with him was enjoyable, as was his distinct sense of comedy. I am confident in recommending the Akegera tour to anyone interested in learning more about Rwanda and its animals.

Rwanda Eco Company and Safaris exceeded our expectations. We used their services to see the silverback gorillas and golden monkeys in Virunga, as well as two separate day trips to Akagera. Before we arrived in Kigali, Reginal arranged silverback gorilla permits for us, greeted us at our hotel, and introduced us to the drivers. We had a terrific experience because the drivers were courteous and safety-conscious, the vehicles were comfy and well-maintained, and we had a great time. Thank you for your excellent service, Reginal.
