Tasmanian Wilderness Tour Specialist
Pepper Bush Adventures is a small family-run Australian nature-based tour company delivering sensational Tasmanian wilderness tours in the remote areas of northeast Tasmania. Our team from Pepper Bush Adventures believes that nowhere else in Australia with such a concentration of unique wildlife, spectacular landscapes, pristine beaches and wilderness as there is in the north-east corner of Tasmania.
Pepper Bush Adventures operate with the essential ingredients of wildlife viewing, wilderness areas, food, and wine experiences. Tasmanian wilderness tours visit the majestic alpine peaks on Ben Lomond National Park, the remote pristine beaches of Mt William National Park and the ancient forests of north-east Tasmania. We have two unique nocturnal wildlife viewing venues for our Quoll Patrol and Canopy Capers tours which are packaged with superb campfire dining and a local B&B to offer private and exclusive multiday wilderness tour options.
Tasmania is rightly called the “Jewel in the Crown” of Australia when referring to its mammals. Many species of mammals, once widely dispersed throughout southern Australia, have either disappeared or are sadly reduced to small numbers. The endemic eastern quoll, bettong, and pademelon species are very much a focus for the Pepper Bush Adventures team along with the platypus, echidna, forester kangaroo, wombat, Bennett’s wallaby, brushtail and ringtail possums. Pepper Bush Adventures consider Tasmania to be the best place in Australia to see the most native animals in their natural habitat – guaranteed six species without leaving the Quoll Patrol campfire.
Tasmania has rich bird fauna, including twelve species which are endemic to the state. The northeast of Tasmania can claim home to around 10 of the endemic species and over 100 other species.
Pepper Bush Adventures operate with Tasmanian Tourism and Transport Accreditation which ensures that all insurances and licences are in place. Team Pepper Bush’s fondness and appreciation for wildlife and natural areas guarantee all Tasmanian wilderness tours are conducted in a sustainable and respectful manner.

The Tasmanian wombat population is currently under siege with the infestation of the sarcoptic mite.
The sight of a wombat infected by sarcoptic mange is heart breaking — the burrowing mites take up residence causing continual scratching and irreparable damage to the skin and hair loss. Ulcers and deep lesions develop which then cause secondary infection.
Wombats infected with the mange become blind, slow and lethargic as they battle the affliction, with the animal unable to eat and dying of starvation.
Pepper Bush Adventures are currently undertaking a continuous trail camera monitoring program to ensure that the wombats at their Quoll Patrol venue remain healthy and uninfected.
