Honduras has nearly 800 registered bird species at this time, including resident and neotropical migratory species. Honduras is located in the heart of the Central American Isthmus. Due to its location and distinctive geographical features, the country acts as a meeting point between North America and South America. 80% of the country is mountainous and has more protected areas than any other country in Central America.
Feathers Eco-Birding Tours, promotes bird-based tourism in an effort to simultaneously achieve biodiversity conservation and local community development. Birdwatching and travelling with our company is certainly a way of seeing all sides of Honduras, as we go off the beaten path to find birds of many diverse ecosystems and habitats.
We are members of the Honduran Ornithological Association (ASHO) and the Private Natural Reserves Network (REHNAP), they promote and contribute to Honduras’ wildlife and habitat conservation.
Feathers Eco-Birding Tours is part of a group of companies owned by our family. Our creed for conservation encompasses a percentage of all our tours to be donated for protection, investigation and conservation purposes to Finca Las Palmas, a private natural reserve, in the Apaguiz-Apapuerta Massif, the most vital watershed for Danli and more than 70 surroundings communities, in the Department of El Paraíso, Honduras.
The mature broad-leaf forest found in this massif is of great importance because of the infiltration and recollection of water and is a very rich area in biodiversity issues.
