Amazon Eco lodge

Muyuna Lodge is a small Amazon rainforest eco lodge, secluded, intimate and that guarantees the observation of birds, monkeys, sloths, pink dolphins, fish, caimans and other Peruvian wildlife in their own habitat.

Located up the Amazon River their bungalows are comfortable and include en suite bathrooms and terraces facing the river.  As the Amazon ecolodge is small, the personalised service quality is comparable with luxury hotels, while always maintaining respect to the environment.

Muyuna Lodge offers excursions which give you the chance to observe, explore, learn and enjoy the diversity that the rainforest has to offer. They offer private tours for birdwatchers (especially wattled curassow) and anglers (especially peacock bass).

Birdwatching excursions, by day and by night will allow you to watch the most exotic species of the Peruvian Amazon fauna.  Their expert naturalist bilingual guides enable them to take you deep into the heart of the jungle where you will see the widest variety animal and plant species, not only making daylight and nocturnal excursions, but also showing different habitats (varzea and mainland rainforests, and islands), making the most complete birdwatching tour in all the Amazon River.

The Wattled Curassow, one of the larger birds of the Amazon Rainforest and similar to the domestic peacock, was almost extinct some 40 years ago.  Piuris were so abundant in the islands of the Amazon that the flocks came to the crops to eat leaves and lived with peacocks and chickens.  They were hunted easily, and prepared for special celebrations, but consumption grew more everyday with the increase of the population.  “We never thought that this bird was going to disappear, especially not after having flocks hovering over the island.  We had to make a campaign to rescue the few remaining with the help of Muyuna Lodge” said Mr. Jorge Pinchi, member community of San Juan de Yanayacu.

Muyuna Amazon eco lodge is located 140km from Iquitos in the middle of a natural habitats are tropical moist lowland forests.
