Uganda Crater Lake Tour

The Crater Lake Forest Eco-Tour is part of a drive to curb the drying up of crater lakes in Uganda. Kabarole district is home to over 60 picturesque crater lakes dotted like glittering pearls all over the landscape. Deforestation around the lakes and mis-use of the waters in the lakes has led to rapid drops in water levels of the lakes and in some extreme cases, the drying up of these natural treasures. The Eco-Tour aims to grow eco-friendly varieties of trees which are then replanted in various spots around the lakes to regrow the forests. The project also involves re-education of the locals regarding the best ways to encourage water conservation.

The project is run by volunteers from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. It offers individuals and groups a chance to connect with nature while engaging in a conservation effort. It’s a stellar model for eco-tourism that has already been replicated in other areas of the country and other countries in Africa.

Our eco-tourism safari will take you deep into the scenic highlands of Kabarole district where you’ll live off the land and reconnect with nature.
