Peru Birding Tours

Kolibri Expeditions, based in Lima and operating since 1998, provides birding tours to all throughout Peru. The company has been organising birdwatching trips throughout South America for over 20 years. Their experience covers Venezuela and Ecuador with a particular interest in Peru, where they has been involved in bird conservation projects of the Polylepis woodland near Cusco.

Kolibri Expeditions take pride in training local guides specialising in a passion and knowledge of South American birds. They will recognise most bird calls heard, especially those in the tropics where this skill is essential. They will share with you a unique insight into the inhabitants of Peru, wildlife, nature and culture.

Kolibri Expeditions offer a variety of birding tours including moderate birding, extreme birding, bird photography and videography, a selection of 5 day tours, whale watching, butterflies and insects, hiking, trekking and nature and cultural expeditions.  They have also been offering pelagics from Lima since 2000 and has the longest track record of pelagics in Peru. Special pelagic birds of the Humboldt current such as Hornby’s and Markham’s Storm-Petrels and Peruvian Diving-Petrel can be seen on their trips.

Itineries are arranged to suit all budgets regarding choices of accommodation, nature and length of the tour from comfortable lodging in rural areas, camping to up market hotels.
