Wilderness and Nature Tours
Iberian Lynx Land is a young Spanish nature tourism company grown out of driving enthusiasm and solid local knowledge. It is based in the province of Jaen in the north of Andalusia- the greenest of Spain’s provinces with a third of its territory designated as protected natural space, and rightfully regarded as the unsung hero of Spanish nature. A mixed blessing which allows a real wilderness experience in what is arguably the region with the greatest wealth of flora and fauna in the whole Iberian Peninsula, and by consequence, the whole of Europe.
Iberian Lynx Land team’s is formed by highly skilled wildlife guides, lead by Jose Luis Sanchez, the chief guide. Native of this part of Spain, Jose Luis’s knowledge of the area is unmatched. The coupling of a life-long enthusiasm for nature and extensive fieldwork as a government biologist throughout the region bring an acute perception and a keen eye to the natural environment of the area.
They offer birding day trips, wildlife tours, tailor made nature tours and tours for wildlife photographers too. For this, they provide good photography hides for raptors and other animals in some of the best natural areas. Jose Luis Ojeda is a well-known Spanish nature photographer and managing partner at Iberian Lynx Land. He will advise you in all of the things related to wildlife photography.
In short, a quality, life experience is what Iberian Lynx Land offers their customers. They carefully select accommodation in the right places with the right ‘feel’ – charm, comfort, friendliness and regional home-cooking as standard. Together with great guiding, their aim is to offer truly memorable times in Europe’s best birding country- Spain.

Some of the most popular species seen in these countries are as follows:
Morocco: Rüppell’s Fox, Barbary macaque, Mousier’s redstart, Long-legged Buzzard, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, Cream-coloured Courser…
Ecuador: Spectacled bear, Golden-mantled Tamarin, Mountain Tapir, Crested owl, Ecuadorian Hillstar, Paradise Tanager, Andean Gull…Hundred species of Butterflies, Moths…and worthy of mention the great variety and number of orchids.
Spain: Eurasian Otter, Mouflon, Griffon Vulture, Short-toed Eagle, Golden oriole, Eagle owl, Black wheatear, Spanish sparrow, Alpine swift, Blue-rock Thrush.
Along with Responsible Nature Tourism, Iberian Lynx Land’s pivotal values include Education and Conservation activities and programmes, and they take an active role in improving the fundamental principles in striking the balance between intense agriculture activity, as is the case in Northern Andalusia, and the need for sustainable development and conservation.
On the other hand a share of Iberian Lynx Land profits goes to the conservation of the Iberian Lynx. They work and collaborate with the landowners of the estates where this critically endangered feline lives, improving the habitat, or increasing the populations of its main prey – rabbit, building rabbit warrens and releasing rabbits in areas with a low density of them.
And not only in Spain, they are actually developing a project to help through Nature Tours in the conservation of the Andean Condor in Ecuador.
